Baked Canvas is a Perth based company who bake unique cakes with artist flare. Their branding required a creative design that was also classy and authentic. While they are currently a small home-run bake-house, they are striving to become a leading name in cake decorating in Australia. The logo uses Milonguita font with the lower loops forming the imagined stem of a cake-topper and is influenced by Victorian era correspondence, particularly letters written by author Jane Austen to her sister. This messier calligraphic styles means the brand communicates elegance while still being seen as domestic and homely. The Victorian era in particular makes us think of slow baking and of the high amounts of human effort required to produce goods.
