Birthday dinner @kanpaiyakinikuperth with my brother and Ben (mum was working). Lovely food, amazing staff. We asked for some extra disability accommodations when we booked and they made the whole process so easy. I cannot recommend them enough.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes. I asked Ben for 34 gifts for 34 years. He initially baulked, but I pointed out he could just fill up with stickers, and he did not disappoint! I'm particularly stocked to see two new @thequirkycupcollective notebooks, a cute calendar + figurines, and way more stickers than I ever expected. I spent the day working, so I haven't had time to respond to messages, but I appreciate them all ❤️

Mum is working for my birthday tomorrow so I got my gift early. When I asked for crocheted flowers, mum repeatedly said they would not be a substantial enough gift...until she saw them all together. Pictures don't do my new bouquet justice.

Christmas tree up - as mum put it Ben and I are at opposite ends of the Christmas spirit spectrum so this overwhelms him. Also these are mostly presents for my family who need some extra joy this year ❤️❤️❤️

I haven't posted a reading update since June. So...here's everything I've read since then!

I've been stacking these increasingly large piles of books on tables and dressers around our house, refusing to relegate them to our bookshelves until they've been properly documented. My health being what it is, I've now given up on tracking them in my journal. I'm hoping to pick that back up, using this photo as a reference, when my health is better.

I won't post reviews as there are SO.MANY.BOOKS. but ask me questions if anything stands out. How are your reading goals going?

I haven't posted much lately, but I've gotten a lo

I haven't posted much lately, but I've gotten a lot done despite being unwell. I've been playing with forms in my manuscript (at my lovely new desk) - a villanelle about gaslighting; non-literary forms like bank statements, police statements, court records; plus longer form poems that mix prose, lyric and concrete fragments in a similar style to the lyric essay. I love talking about my work (and reading it out loud!) so feel free to ask me anything! This collection is the most challenging, experimental thing I've ever written.

That's a wrap on All Abilities for 2024. What a whirlwind this year has been. Participants have had poems published, shortlisted. I've had the pleasure of hearing so many diverse voices and have loved providing a platform for those who struggle to attend in person events.

Did you know that, as well as workshopping existing poems, every session we do a writing exercise? Next year's theme for these is poetic forms. I'm working hard with workshop participants to develop a schedule (did you know joining a session gets you access to our Facebook group?!), which will be released soon!

I'm quite late posting because I've been unwell, but a few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of taking part in a body confidence photoshoot with my amazing PT @thrivecoach_ing. But she's more than just a PT. Thanks to her, I'm focused on a much more holistic view of my health and have learnt to love my gym days. With how sick I've been, this photoshoot is also exactly what I needed - I was surprised at just how much I loved the photo previews (which isn't these - these are just happy snaps from my phone).

Note the fear in mum's eyes as I set off a party popper (Ben said I couldn't order an air horn). The theme for dinner - you have to dress as something that will scare another invitee. Ben is dressed as traffic lights to scare his father.
