This Fragile Thing by Karen Lowry will be launching in-person at the WA Poets Inc Perth Poetry Festival, but I know not everyone can make that event.

I used to have agoraphobia and I still often struggle to leave the house. Many of the friends and colleagues I've made over the years also struggle with attending in-person events. Some of you aren't even in the same state as me!

So this is for you.

Join myself Caitlin Maling, Scott-Patrick Mitchell and Deanne Leber for an hour of poetry readings via zoom.

There will even time at the end for any questions you might have about my book!

Caitlin Maling is a Western Australian poet who has published six books of poetry, including a September 2026 volume Midwest with Upswell publishing. Her work has been shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards, the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards and the WA Premier’s Book Awards. She lives near Walyalup (Fremantle) with her young family and teaches writing at Curtin University.

Scott-Patrick Mitchell is a queer non-binary poet in Western Australia, on Whadjuk Noongar Land. They are the author of Clean, a poetry collection that details their lived experience with addiction and recovery. SPM’s work appears in Contemporary Australian Poetry, The Fremantle Press Anthology of Western Australian Poetry, Solid Air, Stories of Perth and Going Postal.

Deanne Leber is a Mental Health Advocate and has shared her lived experience journey with audiences, including for police and paramedics in training. Deanne has independently published three collections of poetry and was a finalist in the 2022 International Book Awards. Deanne lives in Boorloo – Perth.

Karen Lowry is an experimental poet known for her collage poetics. Her intimate poems, personal essays, and fiction have been published in Cordite, WritingWA’s the little journal and Australian Poetry Journal. She has been shortlisted for the QUT digital literature award and the new media writing prize. Karen has a PhD from Curtin University where she currently teaches. More: www.kazzalow.com
